Since 2007 Beazley has taken part in the City of London Business Traineeship programme funded by a charity called The Brokerage. The programme forges links between companies within the City of London and talented individuals from the surrounding boroughs who would not necessarily have access to jobs in the city.
As part of the programme, we offer paid internship placements during the summer lasting around ten weeks, giving students access to the corporate environment, an insight into the insurance world and the opportunity to learn vital business skills. This is a partnership that works really well, not only for the students but also for us, as we have seen interns from the programme, return as employees.
In 2015 we expanded this globally and now have hosted interns in our San Francisco, New York and Farmington offices.
“Lloyd’s has supported The Brokerage CityLink summer placement programme for many years, providing opportunities and jobs for bright, young Londoners from inner city boroughs. Beazley has also got on-board and since 2007 have built the number of paid summer internships it offers for talented local sixth form students to eight in 2015. They have consciously collaborated with other syndicates – willingly sharing their ideas, resources and experience. I am delighted that they are one of the companies in the Lloyd’s market helping to bring in new and diverse talent to the industry.” Inga Beale, Chief Executive, Lloyd’s
